CyPB have announced that Andrew Lambrou, who participated in Australia Decides 2022, will fly the flag for the nation in Liverpool at Eurovision Song Contest 2023.
Lambrou, an Australian of Cypriot descent, competed in SBS’ National Final Australia Decides earlier this year with the entry Electrify. It finished 7th out of 11 songs in the competition and it has to be pointed out that it finished second-to-last in the jury vote.
Panik Records, who have been helming Cyprus’ Eurovision participation for a number of years, most notably in 2018 with runner-up Fuego, will be returning for 2023, but this time in collaboration with City Pop Records from Australia.
Lambrou is the second artist that has been announced for Liverpool, following Israel’s Noa Kirel being confirmed back in August.
Certainly a better idea than selecting your artist through All Together Now.
So, Montenegro almost entered ASC participant, Cyprus enters Australia Decides’ one… What now, Rigoberta Mandini representing Azerbaijan?
